Natural foraging

Hedgerows, fields of crops and gardens provide an abundant source of nectar

Bees will fly up to three miles to forage. When they find something really fruitful, they will come back to the hive and perform a 'waggle dance' to let the other bees know exactly where to go.

Orchards

Early in the season as the fruit trees start to blossom the bees will be busy collecting the pollen.

Hedgerows

Flowering hedgerows and wild flower margins around the edges of arable fields provide plentiful foraging throughout the spring until the first crops come into flower.

Crops

A real favorite for the bees are the bright yellow flowers of oil seed rape, they will favour this plentiful source of nectar over everything else!
